Jessica Honey’s portraits typically hijack the faces of the famous and familiar, and in this case, famous painters. Whether to pay homage, exploit, self-aggrandize or as a cheaper alternative to plastic surgery, Honey’s portraits are a fusion of these known faces with her own facial features.
To produce her pieces, Honey employs both new and old technologies via a convoluted reductive process involving google-images and Photo Booth selfies which are combined in photoshop and expelled through a laser printer. The prints are then recreated by hand, resulting in technology-void, traditionally painted portraits.
